Cave description:

The cave develops inside grey Upper Permian limestone. The entrance is located about 1 km from Da Yun village, at the base of a rock cliff with a large mound of collapsed rubble at the foot of a suspended valley. The initial section of the cave is well decorated; it is represented by galleries with a triangular cross-section. A down-sloping gallery begins 75 m from the entrance, a small stream with about 0.5 l/s discharge runs along it. The morphology of the active section is very sharp, with a sub-quadrangular cross-section and partly covered by abundant yellow-brownish silt deposits. The walls and roof are covered by a thin layer of clay, a consequence of the periodic flooding of the galleries. Large chiropterans, rodents and carnivores live in the initial section of the cave; abundant guano deposits are present.

Results of the 13 expeditions organized by the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale of Verona to southern China. One-hundred-twenty-five caves were explored, for a total of more than 60 km in length. For each cave we list the progressive number, the cadastral number, the type of research conducted and a short description of the cave. Most of the caves are located in Guizhou Province, in Qianxi County. The hydrogeology, biology, geography and archaeology of the area were investigated during the scientific expeditions. 40 pages, No caves maps, 21 photos.

The authors report the results of the first Italian expedition with a related Italian - Chinese program. They visited a region where foreigners are not ususally admitted and undertook research in an area previously visited by French expeditions. Due to bad weather some of the caves were only partially explored and mapped. During the explorations some important archaeological finds were studied as well as biospeleological and other scientific research (4 photos, 1 area map, 4 surveys, 1 figure). (PM).
