SHEN, Jifang; WAN, Junwei; XIAO, Xiying; ZHANG, Changyun (1997): The combined form of special karst in Weishui, Sonezi, Hubei (China) .-
Proceedings of the 12th International Congress of Speleology, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Aug. 1997. Symposium 4, Volume 4: 55-56 (2 maps).
The Weishui karst scenic spot is a new tourist place in Songzi, China. The Cambrian carbonate rocks are exposed to the surface in this area, which has evolved a style of karst landform of its own. As most of karst cave systems and subterranean streams are closely related to surface drainage systems, karstification is active at present. Because paleoenvironment change is periodic, the carbonate alternately corrode and sediment within the large caves, which have grown to a system of karst landscape. This paper first introduces the karst characteristics of Weishui, and gives emphasis to discuss the combined forms of underground karst, namely rare secondary speleothems and variform remains of corrosion, as found in Xinshen Cave.
