From Houping, take the main road east. Just past the first left turn, turn right on the good path which heads down the main valley, following the left side of a small stream. At the stream crossing, traverse left to cross over to the other stream in this same, main valley, and cross this stream on a large, stone bridge. Take the path which climbs up steeply from the bridge to the obvious cleft in the ridge, taking the right size of the cleft. From the fields at the top bear somewhat down and left and head for the obvious dark hole in the forest. A path surrounds this. One way to the entrance is to go to 49H-H1-29 and then to follow the flood overflow/dry streambed from here for 200m or so until it becomes more cavelike and eventually reaches the entrance to 49H-H1-30. An alternative is to walk around the path surrounding the canyon to the far side from 49H-H1-29 and to then hack downslope from the end of the surface survey from the entrance to 49H-H1-30. For this second option, keep to the left wall of the canyon as you descend the final 100m.

Viewed from the large ramp in a canyon which descends to the entrance, the water from the other canyon below 49H-H1-29 enters via mostly roofed cave/canyon amidst jumbled boulders on the left. There may be a separate inlet coming in from between large boulders on the right [QM A]. The massive, main passage heads south and steeply downslope for 130m then turns abruptly to head 150m southwest at a much shallower angle and becomes much lower. The passage ends very low and sumped with glowless glowworms and spiders.
