Cave description:
The cave entrance is located on a wide cultivated terrace, behind a rock outcrop. The cave was used in the past by the local population for defence; passed the entrance there is a wide collapse dome, followed by two levels of galleries. The first one is inactive, and is at a depth of -20 m, the second one goes 50 m deeper, ending in a lake-siphon. The inactive branch starts behind a stone wall; it is a quite regular gallery more than 200 m long, in some points of an elliptical section, with abundant speleothems. This branch and the active one run in a SW-NE direction, the air circulation is scarce and calcitic flowstones in the terminal section block the passage. The active branch can be reached from the lower part of the collapse room at the entrance: it begins with a steep slide, followed by a gallery with abundant clay deposits, leading to the siphon-lake at 70 m elevation, fed by a stream with a discharge of some tens l/s. Upstream, the river runs in a beautiful phreatic gallery about 100 m long, with clay deposits, leading to the uphill siphon, represented by a second lake occupying the entire surface of the gallery; the end of the cave can be located with some difficulty on the other side of the lake.
