Cave description:
The cave opens in the Lower Permian limestone. A subterranean section of Ge Bi He River runs along the entire main gallery, and a perennial river with 10 m3/s discharge (measured on 08/10/1997) flows from the impressive entrance of the cave. The cave was reached, and partly explored, by boat and swimming. The study of the walls and the alluvial deposits indicate that during intense and long rain periods, the water level is 3 m higher than the level recorded by our expedition. Therefore, during high floods the discharge can be higher than 100 m?/s. A mound of large rubble a few tens of meters from the entrance, on the left side, is the entrance to a subhorizontal gallery, the initial part of which was recently (beginning of the 1900) used for burial, as shown by the numerous shaft-preserved human skeletons, clothes, linen, and wood coffins. The gallery is well decorated. Uphill the above-mentioned rubble mound, a huge limestone boulder (800 m3), partially emerging from the water, almost totally blocks the flooded gallery, which continues with the same wide dimensions for about 100 m in 60° N direction. Afterwards, the gallery divides into three branches; the central one is the highest and has two chimneys on the roof. The chimneys were not explored due to lack of time.

Research in South China Karst - Memorie del Museo Civico di Storia Naturale di Verona - 2. serie - Monografie Naturalistiche 3-2008
Analyse : gkc-JPB
Results of the 13 expeditions organized by the Museo Civico di Storia Naturale of Verona to southern China. One-hundred-twenty-five caves were explored, for a total of more than 60 km in length. For each cave we list the progressive number, the cadastral number, the type of research conducted and a short description of the cave. Most of the caves are located in Guizhou Province, in Qianxi County. The hydrogeology, biology, geography and archaeology of the area were investigated during the scientific expeditions. 40 pages, No caves maps, 21 photos.
