Chapter 3: RECONNAISSANCE IN THE KARST OF PINGTANG (GUIZHOU)

Résumé -Abstract - Zusammenfassung -:In 1989, we briefly reconnoitred the cone-karst of Pingtang in southern Guizhou  for a future expedition. The Lapinghe river flows through the folds in a succession of tunnel-caves, especially north of the Sizhai polje, through an area whose name is "hollow mountain". An irrigation dam has been built in Ji’an Dong cave, which is situated 120 m above the Manhong polje. The Heidong cave, which we visited with representatives of the authorities, will be fitted up as a show cave. In this county, important work concerning exploration and scientific investigation remains to be done.
